Season 7 Acknowledgements

A word from the Starsky & Hutch SVS Steering Committee….

From Kandy: Well, if weekly was too much, and bi-weekly was too much, how about once every six weeks? While Candy Apple and I had our lives back with that schedule, I think Barb was very bit as busy as we were the previous years. However, even with such a “laid back” schedule, we still ended up with a few Special Feature weeks. Oh, well. Real life, if anything, just filled in the gaps. So this, then probably marks the end of the Starsky & Hutch Slash Virtual Seasons, at least in hardcopy. We’ve discussed doing special movie features as they come, and if they pan out, I’m more than happy to put them up on the website.

Once again, I have to thank Barb for her wonderful and tireless editing job. She has become a good friend over the course of these years. Thank you, as always, Candy, for helming this project and cracking that whip when we needed it. I look forward to seeing you again this year. You’ll probably manage to rope me into another project. 😉 Thank you, authors and artists. Without you, there would be no zine to produce. And once again, I must thank D.L. for her wonderful layout skills. Thank you, the reader. Without your interest, the effort wouldn’t be worth it. Enjoy.

From Barb: There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes before an episode airs, and Candy has been the glue that holds it all together. She’s a terrific leader and somehow manages to make me smile at least once in every email she sends me. She’s our calm strength when things get complicated, and I so much appreciate her guidance. Kandy and I are more recent friends, one whom I can depend on with all those last-minutes adjustments, and who present our episodes so professionally. She’s the force behind the publishing of the zine each season, too, and a great source of encouragement for me. I very much enjoy working with Candy and Kandy and am looking forward to our next stop. Although we offered fewer episodes in Season Seven, the quality of writing was certainly upheld by returning authors Lucy, Hutchrules3, and pepcidDC as wll as my fellow Steering Committee members, Candy Apple and Kandy/Firefly.

It was a pleasure to work with these authors as we strove to present entertaining episodes. My beta readers this season were a terrific group, always helping to make my job easier. In addition, I received some insightful assistance from Cindy R. One of the most rewarding aspects of the SHSVS for me this season was collaborating Kandy and our artist, Patt, as we put together the tribute to Paula Wilshe. In collecting testimonies and Paula’s favorite S&H photos from her friends, I was deeply touched to learn the extent of Paula’s love to so many. Thank you to all who contributed, and to Patt for the exquisite artwork. It looks like the SHSVS will be around a little longer, and we hope you continue the journey with us.

From Candy: When I started the first little email planning group for the Starsky & Hutch Slash Virtual Season, I had no clue where it would lead. There were some good and bad surprises along the way, but very few dull moments. I’m utterly delighted we’re back in the saddle again for Season 7, and even more delighted that Barb and Kandy could be persuaded to continue contributing their immense talents to this project. Working with them both has been one of the best parts of doing this. I’ve never had to question their commitment to the project, or their commitment to excellence. Barb is nothing short of stellar as a managing editor, and her attention to detail is exceptional; Kandy handles our web presence with a professionalism and dedication that makes it look seamless and easy, even though we know better!

In addition to a massive thank you to my cohorts on the Steering Committee, I have to thank our authors for Seasons 5, 6, and 7. While we’ve put guidelines in place and we plan our milestones as a team, these authors come up with their own inventive plots and add their own distinctive voices to the development of our characters and our universe. Our artists “decorate” the episodes and bring them to life in visual art. The visual component is key to a virtual season, and these ladies give us some beautiful images for which we’re truly grateful. Our beta readers, consultants, and researcher are all vital parts of our team, and I appreciate each and every one of them. Most importantly, I want to thank all the readers, whether you’ve been enjoying the seasons online, or are just getting to know us through the printed zines. To those of you who have sent feedback, we read it all and it makes the whole project worthwhile. Thanks for reading, commenting, enjoying, and loving Starsky & Hutch as much as we do!

Once again we must thank our readers and contributors for their continued patronage of our zines. You’re what keeps us going year after year. We never realized how much work was involved in producing these things. They are truly a labor of love, and we hope it shows. We feel each one gets better and better. We’re proud of this latest offering, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed bringing it to fruition.
